Hello I am working with word 2002 and am trying to insert a text box
but whenever I click insert text box I get a large box that says
insert drawing here and then I can insert a text box - I didn't get
this drawing box in my previous version so I am not sure whether it
should pop up or not.

Tools | Options | General: clear the check box for the item that refers to a
drawing canvas.

The large box is called the "Drawing Canvas". The drawing canvas
makes multiple drawing objects behave like a single object when
you move or resize. Connector shapes only work as designed when
they're in the drawing canvas. Personally, I find the drawing
canvas annoying and have turned it off by clicking on Tools |
Options | General | uncheck the "Automatically create drawing
canvas" box | OK.
