Default roman numerals

Just was curious whether it is possible to use roman numerals in a normal
word document. i want them to be part of the text. i.e Axis 1(this one should
be roman numeral).
any help would be appreciated

Default roman numerals

If you want roman numerals in text, you type them as letters, just as you
would if you were writing them. If you want a numbered list numbered with
roman numerals, you select that number format. If you want pages numbered
with roman numerals, you select that page number format.

Suzanne, do you know how to make a ymbol for the roman nermal 1 million which
is an M with a line over it?

jay and Suzanne,

thanks for being samrter than the averag bear. now i just need to learn a
little programing and i will be off tot he races. unicode, field equations.
i'll give it my best. you know what they say, what one man can do, another
man can do. i'll just have a little reading to do. thanks for your help.
