Default Word 2007 section breaks

Hi all

I am a new user to Word 2007 Beta and cannot work out how to view what
section you're working in!!

In 2003, it appears in the bottom left hand corner with your page numbers
etc but it doesn't in 2007.

Any ideas??

Thank you.

Hi Louise,

Right-click the status bar (the bar across the bottom). Unlike earlier
versions of Word, you can customize what is displayed here. Choose the
"Section" entry to make this information visible.

One other thing I've noticed too..........you're supposed to be able to
seelct your text in Word and point into the selection and the 'mini
formatting' toolbar appears? Mine doesn't. It will only appear if I
right-click in the selection but then obviously the right click menu appears
too?!?!

Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or is there a setting I have to choose?

Thank you.

This could be a problem with your graphics card driver; some of this display
stuff is pretty new and, when the final Office 2007 version is released I
expect many of us are going to need to d/l and install updated graphics card
AND printer drivers :-)

But to be certain, click the big round button (top, left), select "Word
Options" (bottom right), click "Personalize" (top, left) and make sure "Show
Mini Toolbar on selection" is activated.

Hi Cindy
Thank you for your reply. I've checked my settings and the 'show mini
toolbar on selection' option is ticked. For some reason, some times it works
and some times it doesn't, I have to deselect the text and then select it
again and it works. Strange....

Then its likely a combination of the beta still not being the "fine-tuned"
release, plus your graphics card driver. The new interface tends to have a
"delay" until things show up; earlier test versions were even worse.

Default Word 2007 section breaks [Minibar]

Hi Louise,

The 'shy bar' (minibar) has some quirks. Some of them are as Cindy mentioned, because it's beta software, some may not be improved.
For example if you highlight some text you may get better results in having the minibar appear depending on whether you then 'mouse
in' from the left of from the right of that text.
