Default users cannot browse folders with word

One of our clients asked us to change the icons for several hundred
folders on a particular share to denote, for their end users, the fact
that those folders were no longer being backed up. After the changes
took place users were no longer able to use Microsoft Word's FileOpen
command to browse for documents in that particular directory. They can
get to the other directories with word, and windows explorer can open
the directory just fine. I see that there may be an issue with one of
the security updates that is causing this and I'll investigate that
when I'm on site later today. But, since this happened immediately
following the folder icon changes I was thinking that this may be
something else as we haven't applied updates for 2 weeks now. I
apologize in advance if this isn't the correct group for this.

Default users cannot browse folders with word

Hi

If the users cannot navigate to these folders, then I doubt that this is a
Word problem; is it possible that the permissions to the folders were
changed when the icons were changed?

Hope this helps.
