Default Inserting Link Within Document to a Location Within same Document

Inserting Link Within Document to a Location Within same Document:
I don't know whether this is called a bookmark or a hyperlink, but Word Help
does not seem to be have a solution for this.
I have a series of tables within a single document. I would like to have a
Table of Contents at the top and be able to click on the listing for
"Ribbons" and have the cursor jump to the table for ribbons. Is this
possible and how

Yes, it's possible. Just insert a bookmark just before the table for ribbons
("Insert"-"Bookmark"). Then, in your table of content, insert a
"Cross-reference" and choose "Bookmark" as "Reference type".

I am stuck on how to create bookmarks and cross references. I read about
them in Help, but I can't seem to use them properly. I seem to be able to
generate them, but don't know how to utilize them after.

I still haven't got it. I think I need a good Word coach. I thought I knew
Word quite well. Cindy, thank you for the MVP links; they will probably be
useful to me in the future, although I didn't find anything specifically
related to the issue of jumping from a TOC to the specific subject.--

Assuming this is a Word-created TOC, all the entries are hyperlinks. At some
version (maybe Word 2002?), the default command to follow a hyperlink
changed from click to control-click.

So try control-clicking on any entry in the TOC to jump to it. This should
also work for cross-references, if they were created as hyperlinks (the
creator has the option, but it is on by default in my version).

PS for future reference. I suspect that you would have gotten this answer
much more quickly if you had created a new thread that stated your problem
more clearly, and given your version right off the bat.
