Default Formating

I am creating a document that I would be able to tab to the specific areas
for the required information, but I need to place lines in the document and
not have them move when something is typed. How do I do that?

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm and especially
the forms tutorials by Dian Chapman that this article links to.

If you really want static lines on the page you must draw them and fix them
yourself (using the Drawing Toolbar). but, if I were you, I would seriously
question whether I wanted them - what will they help with?

The boss wants them added. I would assume to make the document look "better".
