Default Outline numbering and the tab key

Word 2003 - I have somehow turned off my tab keys ability to change outline
numbering. When in a numbered list, if I press tab, it does just that tab,
it use to shift the outline and change the number or bullet type based on
outline format.

Any one that can help?

In Word, click on Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type |
check the "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" box | OK.
