I need to know how to correct this problem. I am currently unable to paste
anything at all although it appears the text, etc has been copied or cut,
nothing pastes at all exept a letter 'a'.

Most likely, there's some addin on your system that's interfering with the
Clipboard. Is this happening in all applications, or just Word? Which version
of Word?
