Whenever I open a Word document, the Control Toolbox shows up along the left
side of the screen. Is there some way to keep it from appearing when I open
Word? I turned it off by un-checking the Control Toolbox box under Tools
Customize, but it continues to show up every time I reopen Word.

This will appear if
1. Tools/Macro/Security is set to "High"
2. The document you're opening contains a macro or an ActiveX control

Although I wouldn't expect the behavior just when starting Word. Unless you're
also opening a document at the same time?
