Default WORD won't save, but wouldn't removing patch cause risk?

See

and http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165. The message gives clearer
instructions for doing what Microsoft is recommending.

Just remove the patch. Set Windows not to install updates automatically
and flag this patch as one not to be installed.
When it is fixed, it will be fixed with a different numbered patch
(probably soon, given all the grief that it has caused).

Also, wouldn't removing the Security Patch only work until the next
XP update which would reinstall the patch?

I need to have my WORD work and save. Both the Open and Save As is
broken. I just hangs up. I need a fix soon.

I am concerned that removing the security patch will expose me to
hackers.

For those of you who always think it is the Users fault, I have done
a security scan for viruses and adware. I have McAfee security. This
problem has taken hours of my time as I had to first do scans and
check that I had updates current, etc.

I did call Microsoft support which just means a persons reads a
script that you can call and pay for help. No acknowledgment at all
that there is a problem.
