Why not just learnt to use it? Graphics are anchored to paragraphs and
normally move when the paragraph does; but right-click and set the
properties to fix them in place if that's what you want.
No idea what you mean about the white line at the 'top of footers etc' -
there's nothing (incompetence aside) to stop you putting a white line at the
top of the footer or anywhere else.
