Normal.dot is the file your computer opens when you open Word. It should be
blank.
Which file is messed up? Your work file or Normal.dot?

I am using word 2002 after editing my document i pressed save and the

responded : the file normal already exist would you like to replace it
with
the existing document and i accidently responded yes. Now when i go to
open
my document it comes up blank with zero characters. please tell me
there
is a
way i can get it back, please
In the same folder is there a file with the same name but the extension
".wbk"? If there is, that's a backup copy of the file. Make a copy of it
and
give the copy the ".doc" or whatever extension your original had.
If there isn't then you're out of luck. The file's gone forever.
