Default first and second page number are the same. Why?

Is there a section break between the first two pages?

I am setting starting numbers for specific documents. . . for instance my
chap. 1 is one complete document. chapter 2 is another separate document.
when I choose insert page number and set up my formatting options (start

at
"55"), the first page starts at 55 but the next page shows "55" as well.

To clarify, are you setting starting numbers for specific sections (or
documents?), or are you using the "Continue from previous section"

setting?

I am inserting page numbers for several chapters. chapter one comes

out
fine. however, when i try to paginate chapter 2 (starting with

page#55)
the
first and second page of the chapter each have "55" as the page

number. I
can't get consecutive numbers. Any ideas?
