Default Footnote: Reduce blank space below it

In the Footnote and Endnote Options dialog box, make sure that the
"Location" (for footnotes) is set to "Bottom of page" instead of "Below
text."

Hi Bob

Thanks for your suggestions. Interestingly, when I do that the actual
footnote does not move further down the page closer to the footer area. So
there must be another settings which controls the space between the
footnote
and the footer.

Warm regards/gary

Hello Gary -

The table in the footnote is the culprit:-)... *all* tables in a Word doc
are followed by a ¶ which *cannot* be removed. However you can try either
of
at least two things to ease the issue:

1- Select the ¶ and change the font size to 1 pt., or

2- Select the ¶ and use Format Font - Hidden which will cause it to not
display unless non-printing characters are on.

Hi Stefan

Thanks for your reply:
1. I do not have any "space after" in the style paragraph setting
2. I have a paragraph mark after the table in the footnote.

How do I delete the paragraph mark?

Check if the Footnote Text paragraph style is defined with Spacing
Below. If
it does, you can set the value to zero.

Another thing to consider: If you press Ctrl+Shift+8 to display
nonprinting
marks, do you see any undesired contents, such as empty paragraph
marks (¶),
in the footnote area?

Hi

On all pages in my thesis I have a footer. On many pages above the
footer
I
have inserted a footnotes. No matter the amount of text in the
footnote
there
is always a couple of lines of blank space below it and above the
footer.
I'l
like to reduce this blank space below the footnote and above the
footer.
Several of you have posted very helpful comments about goinf into
normal
view, view footnotes and selecting the separator but this does not
help
with
the blank space after the footnote.

Any suggestions and thanks for your help in this formum

Warm regards/gary
