Default free recovery tools for word files // ways to recover

Note that in addition to the article at
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm, recent versions of
Word allow you to Open and Repair documents: In the Open dialog box, select
the problem file, click the arrow on the Open button, and choose Open and
Repair.

I have never tested any of the free applications that you mention. I guess
only testing could reveal if/how they work.

Hello people,

every now and then i receive questions from users how to recover their
MSword files. I was able to receive the instructions given on this forum

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm
I can get the text out of corrupted doc files and see instructions in order
to restore the doc files

I want to know if there are free( no $$) tools to recover corrupted doc
files ?

The internet is filled with apps who can do the job (restoring word files
with preserving formating) Are those restore programs all based on the
instruction mentioned in

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm

Thanks in advance

Thank you for replying.

Our users work with word 2002 and in word 2002 there is no option open and
repair.

In my post i did not mentioned any (specific) tools.
I am looking for people who know if there are free (no $$$) tools available.
And if they know of free tool what their experience is with those requested
free tools

Kind regards,
sandert
