Couple of questions. What version of Word„¢ are you using?

Are you saying that your apostrophe (') are automatically being replaced
with = symbols? Or do you WANT to find all ' and replace them with "="
symbols? Which? Find and Replace should work straight forward on find ' then
replace with =
