Default Problem with TOC for multiple documents

Thanks for the responses. That's too bad that the RD field results are never
hyperlinked because that would be the easiest solution. Unfortunately, the
documents are too large and too complex to make using Includetext fields
feasible.

Word isn't really the best tool to use for these particular documents but,
unfortuantely, that is what was used to create them the first time around and
I'm forced to maintain it. Whoever created these docs the first time has a
working TOC and a working Index (in separate docs, with links and proper
formatting). I can't figure out how they did it. Every option seems to be
very labor intensive. :-(

Thanks again.

Is there a chance you could use INCLUDETEXT fields instead (see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/tblsfldsfm...scontent.htm)? If not,
see if someone in microsoft.public.word.vba.general has a better idea.
