If the check boxes are only indicators then see
http://www.gmayor.com/Macrobutton.htm for a method of providing
checked/unchecked boxes.

Unlike (some of) the other fields, form fields cannot be locked and
unlocked. To prevent users from changing the fields, enable forms
protection.

If you want users to edit text more freely than is allowed in a text
form field, add an unprotected section to your document.

For more on forms protection, see

especially the linked articles by Dian Chapman.

I am designing a questionnaire. I wish to lock the check boxes on
the form but leave text boxes unlocked for free text. Is that
possible - did try ctrl+F11 etc but does not seem to work
thanks John aka Khartoum
