The two files share some registry entries and will reconfigure when run.
Essentially you change the registry entries to stop the reconfiguration
after running the Office 2003 versions - see

still have to edit the file associations in Windows Explorer to ensure that
the Office 11 path rather than Office 12 path is present for each relevant
file type.
