Default how do i recover a clipboard item after exiting word

If it was a large amount of text, Word would have prompted you to save the
Clipboard contents. Apparently it didn't. If you have "Always create backup
copy" enabled in Office Button | Word Options | Advanced | Save, then there
will be a backup copy in the same folder named "Backup of filename.wbk,"
which will be the previous version. You can open that file, find the missing
content, and copy it to the Clipboard.

If you do not have the backup copy option enabled, now would be a good time
to enable it, since you can see how it can from time to time save your
bacon.
