Default word icons

I would imagine that the ones with exclamation points are macro-enabled Word
2007 templates (or documents?), while the ones with green check marks are
macro-free (I'm not actually seeing these icons except for Normal.dotm,
which has the exclamation point, but I'm guess that a .dotx might have a
check mark)

Looking in My Documents folder with the view set as ICONS. Every MS Word
file displayed the Word icon with either a green circle with a check mark
or
an orange circle with an exclamation point in the right lower corner of
the
icon. WinXP and MS Word version 2003. Could this be another program adding
this graphic to the regular icon? (This was on a friend's computer.
Haven't
been able to duplicate this on my computer.)

What does it mean when the WORD icon has a green circle with a check
mark
in
it on the lower right corner of the icon? Or an orange circle with an
exclamation point in it.
