Shift+File | Save All will save all open documents, but I agree that having
some indication on the title bar would be useful. Some programs have
Modified/Unmodified. FrontPage puts an asterisk by the page name when it has
unsaved changes. And some programs (rather alarmingly, in my view) dim the
Save button when the document is unmodified.

I see what you mean. That would be a nice feature for those who often have
several documents open at the same time. If you forget which you have and
have not saved, it would be nice not to have to go through and save every
single one. Then again, it never hurts to save even if you haven't made
any
changes. It won't do any harm.
Also, you could just close the document and word will ask you if you wish
to
save changes if any have been made. Guess that doesn't help you, though,
if
you were still intending to work on the documents but wanted to be sure to
save them. Save early, save often. Good advice for sure.
