Default Word 2007: "Keep with next" and "Widow Lines" features not wo

I'm glad you got it sorted.

Note that the "Widow/orphan control" option is usually inherited from the
Normal style in Word, which means that if it was turned off for that style,
many other styles would be affected too. And "Keep with next" is enabled, by
default, for the built-in headings. However, I got the impression that you
did have the settings enabled (for the relevant paragraphs), but that they
still didn't work correctly?

I appreciate your input, but you have provided general knowledge below. I
feel there was a setting that got changed which made these features stop
working. I reset defaults and the features are now working again. Thanks
for trying to help.

Note that if many successive paragraphs has "Keep with next" enabled, you
will get unexpected results, because sooner or later Word must break the
page.

On the other hand, if only selected paragraphs have the setting, but you
press Enter twice to get spacing between paragraphs, "Keep with next"
will
apply to those blank paragraphs, which will also make it look as if "Keep
with next" is not working properly. Use Spacing Before or After
(Paragraph
group of the Page Layout ribbon tab) instead of blank paragraphs.

"Widow and orphan control" only works correctly within paragraphs. In
other
words, if what is logically a *line* of text ends with a paragraph mark
(because Enter was pressed), it will be treated as a single-line
paragraph.

The "keep with next" and "Widow Lines" features were working fine in my
new
Word 2007 until a couple of days ago. Does anyone know of a feature
that
may
have been activated which would make these features no longer work?
