Default text and graphics look faded/washed-out

Are these graphics and text in the header or footer? If so, it is normal for
them to be dimmed when you're working in the document body, and vice versa.

My text and graphics have a slightly "faded" or washed out look.
To correct the text, I highlight it and click the
"auto" black font button.

However, nothing I do seems to get rid of the "faded" or washed
out appearance of the graphics.

I suppose this has something to do with the styles -- but I can't fugure
it out.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Also, if you reply, I am using MS Outlook Express and I can't figure
out exactly how to reply to the particular thread.
