You must set up your headings so that they are numbered, in the number
format that you want. Instructions are available at

Please see attached my header structure which must be automatically auto
numbered as is, for the user. My MS word is not bad but this is insane.
I cant get my TOC to update to the 3rd level and when i apply my header
style to each header my numbering system disappears.
whats going on ? please step by step for me. Cant find any downloadable
templates that i can just add my own copy.
