Default How do I close a document in Word 2007?

Ctrl+F4, the legacy "Close document" keystroke, also works. So does Alt+F C.

Depending on how you've chosen to display documents (separately on the
taskbar or consolidated into one icon on the taskbar), you can also use the
X in the upper right corner of the document window.

Right-clicking the Office button won't get you there, but
left-clicking will. The Close command is at the bottom of the
left-hand column. The shortcut Ctrl+W will also work.
