Hi Terry,

There is a way to do that, which I'll get to in a minute, but that
isn't your friend's problem.

Your friend has gotten the text of that document save into his
Normal.dot template, so every new "blank" document has that text in
it. See http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErr...ocNotBlank.htm
for the steps to fix it.

If you really do want to reopen the last document, make a new shortcut
to Word on the desktop. Right-click the shortcut and select
Properties. In the Target box in the properties dialog, at the end of
the existing entry, type a space and add

/mFile1

Click OK. That icon will always open Word to the most recent document,
the one numbered 1 on the File menu.

Hi,

I've been trying to find on my machine with Word 97 and on my wife's
machine with Word 2000, an option that, when Word is launched, will
cause it to come up with the document that was showing when I last
quit Word.

I'm looking for it because a friend of mine shutdown Word with a
document showing, and now, everytime he launches Word, it comes up
with that document showing. It seemed logical to try to find an
option that he may have set that causes that behavior.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
