If it worked that way BEFORE, then the setting was changed. Default behavior
for double-clicking a DOT file is to create a new document from the
template. To change that, double-click My Computer, hit Tools--Folder
options. Click the File types tab. Scroll down and select DOT, hit Advanced
button. Select Open, and choose Set Default, Ok.

I have a user who used to double-click on a template file within Windows
Explorer and it would open allowing her to edit the template file
directly.

The template file got corrupt somehow which she corrected by over-writing
the corrupt file with a known good version. Now however when she
double-clicks on the template file within Windows Explorer it opens a
document, not the template. I know she can work around it by opening the
template appropriately via Word and choosing to open *.dot files. She is
requesting that get this file to behave as it did once before. Any ideas?
