Default Where are macros, key assignments stored?

Charles,

Many thanks for the advice. Before I read about the Acrobat 7 impact, I did
set up a separate global template, myGlobal.dot as you suggested and that
works fine. Would that be preferable even when normal.dot is
maintaining definitions properly?

I put shortorg.dot into MyGlobal.dot as you suggested. When I click on
"Tools
Organize Keyboard ..." nothing happens.??? What should I see? Tried to
email Chris Woodman but the email address on his site is inop.

Chances are good that you are doing _nothing_ wrong but have installed
Adobe Acrobat version 7!

From the FAQ:

28. I can't save my customizations - AutoText, menus, etc.
Can't save normal.dot...
If you have Adobe Acrobat 7 installed see the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm.
Otherwise, hold down the Shift key when selecting the File
menu and select Save All.

For alternatives to storing customizations in normal.dot, see
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc.

Hope this helps,

I thought that macros, key assignments, and styles were stored by default
in normal.dot. At least, they used to be available from one Word doc to
another. Am now using Word 2003. I cannot get macros, key assignments,
and styles available from one document or session to another. What am I
doing wrong?
