You must unlink the header/footer in Section 2 from the one(s) in Section 1
before you delete anything. See

OK - I set the cursor at the top of page 3, go to Page layout,
Breaks-Section breaks and use the Continuous choice.
I can then insert Page numbers so that Page 3 is numbered page1. Page 1
and
2 ALSO have numbers on them. If I click in Page 1 and choose "remove Page
numbers" it removes ALL THE NUMBERS IN THE WHOLE DOCUMENT!
How do I get page numbering ONLY from page three? WHY is this SO
DIFFICULT?
