Default Hyperlinks sometimes disappear in Word 2003!

The fact that the first 170 work one way and the rest work another way
suggests to me that it's either the result of a software error in Word,
Outlook or (say) MAPI), or the emails happen to be seqeunced ina way that
corresponds to a one-time change in Outlook settings. The only two things
that sprintg to mind a
a. you can set the mail format differently for "internet" recipients (and I
assume that really means "not recipients on your internal Exchange system",
if you have one)
b. you can set the "Send options" for each recipient so that the message
body contains plain text, "include both plain text and", or HTML. Perhaps
someone more familiar with Outlook than me knows where you might make that
setting the default...

Here is a tricky one:

I use mail merge (from excel) in word 2003 (Outlook and word as mail
editor)
to distribute a weekly newsletter to around 400 different persons. Most of
the time everything works fine, but sometime the hyperlinks (static) are
eliminated in some of the emails. Today the first 170 mails were OK, while
the remaining 230 were sent without active hyperlinks.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
