Dear Suzanne,
Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I haven't changed printers or
drivers and I don't have other software such as MS Publisher, so I am at a
loss to explain how I did this before and why it no longer works (it was a
year ago that I printed banners extending unto two pages).

Good news however, I do have an easy solution which will apply to most people.
Because the majority of us have both MS Word and MS Excel, a simple
work-round solution is to copy the picture or type the text into one of the
cells in Excel. The output will be printed at the original size (or can be
re-sized in Excel), extending over as many sheets of paper as necesary. For
example, type the text "Thank you for not smoking." into a cell at the font
size of 72. When you print this, it will come out on two pieces of paper
which can be taped together. Another example is inserting a very large
picture in a graphics formatted file such as jpeg using the INSERT - PICTURE
- FROM FILE menus. The picture will print over as many pages as necessary.

When using Word documents, such as the A4 poster that you have, Peter, you
will have to copy the Word document to the clipboard and then paste it in as
a picture. (Use Edit - Select All and then Edit - Copy in Word. Then go into
your Excel cell and click Paste Special - Picture.) I'd imagine that you
could do the copy and paste in Publisher, whichever program you have. Other
means of inserting (such as using the Import Word document feature of MS
Publisher) cause portions of the Word document to be lost.

The only other thing you can do with a Word file is to convert it from a
document to a graphics format such as jpeg using another piece of software (I
use PaintShopPro). Then the instructions above for inserting a jpeg file work.

feature offered by your printer. You have evidently either changed printers
or changed drivers. Some printers do offer options to "tile" to several
pages, scale up to print large posters, print booklets, print watermarks,
insert separator sheets, etc. Others don't.

If you have Publisher 2003, you can create posters in it that can be tiled.
Publisher also supports banner printing.
