I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to do. However, you can attach a
template to a file and turn on the Automatically Update feature, which will
automatically reformat all text formatted according to the styles contained
in the template and document. This will help you only if the .rft file uses
styles, and if you set up a template [to attach to the .rtf file(s)] that
will force the formatting changes.

Check Tools - Templates and Add-ins. Look at the Attach button, as well as
"Automatically update document styles".

each one to get the document to print properly. Changing the normal.dot
