Default Font style Applies to all rows of the a table

If you are modifying a table style, note that you can change the font for
the whole table (all cells) or for some of the rows or columns (for example,
the heading row, odd rows, even rows, even columns, odd columns). Choose an
option at "Apply formatting to" in the Modify Style dialog box.

On the other hand, if you are saying that font changes for the selection get
applied to the whole table, the problem could be that the paragraph style
applied to text in the table is set to "Automatically update." Turn the
option off in the Modify Style dialog box for the style in question.

when i try to make the font sytle of one row of the table to Bold, it
applies
to the text in all others rows of the table.

What could be the reason..?
What is the mistake made here...?
