Ctrl-Shift-F9 unlinks fields (changes them from fields to the result text).
Delete the "x:/active clients/joe smith..." from your document. Then press
Alt-F9 to toggle display of field codes. This should get you what you want.

This is what it used to look like, now it looks like this: FILENAME
\x:/active clients/joe smith...
How do I get it back to "normal" file paths? I have a feeling I turned
something on or off. If I do CNTRL SHIFT F9 it takes them off...
