Thank you for the responses. I commonly paste graphics from Excel and from
CAD programs as pictures to avoid problems with font resizing and CPU
freezup. From the article posted at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQS/DrwGrphcs/InlinePasteSpec.htm, it appears that
Word 2002 and above can be fooled with a macro. The article does not mention
Word 2003 or 2007.
Do you know if pictures can pasted InLine using the paste special command by
Word 2003 or 2007 or whether these newer versions will tolerate macro
workarounds?

Reformating
takes 6 mouse clicks. On average I have to do this about 20 times every
working day or about 4000 times per year or about 60,000 times or 360,000
mouse clicks in the last 15 years since MicroSoft downgraded this feature.
It takes about 2 seconds each time which means that I have spent 33-1/3rd
hours doing this.
