To repeat, you must have a Continuous section break at the *end* of the
multicolumn section in order to balance the columns.

Well, you do have to have a Continuous section break at the end of the
columns. But if they're still not balancing, check for text flow settings
such as "Keep with next," "Keep lines together," and even "Widow/orphan
control" that might be affecting the arrangement.

Hi All,

When I create three columns beginning and ending with Continuous
Sections Breaks, the last columns is shorter. How do I make them
equal?

They look like this:

xxx xxx xxx
xxx xxx
xxx xxx

They should look like this:

xxx xxx xxx
xxx xxx xxx
xxx

Don't balance columns for continuous section starts is not checked.

I'd appreciate any help because this is driving me crazy.

Thanks,

Michele

Thanks for the note Suzanne. *I have looked at the 3 settings and none
of them are checked. *Checking them does not solve the problem
either. *I hope you or someone has another idea.

I think it's my Word settings and not something in the document. *If I
use a blank document, type 8 words on separate lines, highlight them,
Format, Columns, 3, the last column is still short and can take more.

Warm regards,

Michele

Hi,

Yes, I have Section Break (continuous) immediately above the columns
with nothing in between and another at the end of the last word in the
last column. But, the problem still persists.

Would it have something to do with indentation. I have bullets in the
columns with left indentation at .08 and right indentation at 0. When
I change left to 0, it appears to line up better on one of the column
sections, but not on another so I'm not sure if it's just a
coincidence.

Any other ideas?

Thanks a bunch,

Michele
