Default avoiding file conversion dialog

I am at a loss as to why every time I open Word 2003 to use it I receive the
message: File conversion ~SALMAPP asking me to choose the encoding that
makes this readable....and nothing does make it readable. But I have no idea
why I am receiving this message every time I try to use the program. When I
open Word 2003 I am opening to a blank page...not trying to access anything
else? Do you have any idea?

It sounds as if you are trying to open ~$LMAPP.DOT, which is the "owner
file" for the PALMAPP.DOT add-in. No matter how you open it, it's not going
to contain any usable information except your user name. Why are you trying
to open it?

Hi...I have the same problem, but when I change the setting as you

suggest, I
still receive the same message: File Conversion ~SALMAPP and am asked to
select a conversion, none of which show readable text. Can you suggest

what
I can do? Thanks
