and just to update, it's not even just when i open directly from an
attachment, if I save a word 97-2003 file, it open in Wordperfect....

Word 2007 should open WordPerfect 5 and 6 file types..... no need to
have both on the machine....
The conversion is less than perfect and not ideally suited to use by anyone
who need to work with people using both formats.
