You need the full version of Acrobat - not merely the free reader. If you
don't have this there are some cheaper alternative suggestions linked from
the favourites page of my web site.

Yes, those are the right letters if you're referring to Adobe's
Portable Document Format. The premier (in every sense) application
for making the conversion is Adobe Acrobat, but it is quite
expensive. Other apps are available free or at lower cost; in
general, they are less full-featured than Acrobat but may do what
you need.
