Default How do I setup the default location to save word files?

Gentlemen,
Sometimes I want to retrieve a file for Word from a disk in drive "A". After
I'm done and I want a file from "C", I find that the default has change to
"A" and I have to manually find the directory on "C" to correct it.Is there
any way to "Lock in" the default on "C".?
