Protected documents don't allow changing of headers and footers. You will
need to create a toolbar button that runs a macro to unprotect (reprotect)
the document if you want users to be able to change those areas. Perhaps
you'd be better of with the type of form described he

Or perhaps you can tell us why the user will need to enter the header, and

I have protected that section only via Tools, Protect Document..etc.

However, even though the rest of the document can be amended I am unable
