You have to do a number of things mismartha:
1. Number your first pages using roman numerals
2. Create a section break at the end of these pages (a section break means you can have different formatting in different sections of a document). To create a section break:
a. Place your cursor at the end of the roman numeral section
b. On the toolbar click on 'page layout'
c. Select 'breaks'
d. Go to 'section breaks'. You need to choose the 'next page' section break if you are numbering sections differently. When you do that the cursor moves to the next page and on the previous page you'll see (if you have the non-printing symbols on) a double dotted line with the words 'section break'. SO FAR - GOOD!
3. The new page is the beginning of a new section, so it means you can format it as you wish. You will notice that the page numbering has been carried over from the first section but the numbers are probably already Arabic numerals (e.g. this first page of your second section may be numbered p. 5). To fix this up, if you want this section to start from p. 1 (or to change to Arabic if that has not happened):
a. On the toolbar, click on 'insert'
b. Click on 'page numbers'
c. In the menu select 'format page numbers'
d. Make sure Arabic numbers is selected
e. At the bottom of the menu you will see 'Page numbering'. Probably continuous is checked. If you want the second section to start at 1, check the button 'start at', it will automatically put 1 there (if not, you do it)
f. Click OK
ALL is GOOD!
