Default Heading Changed To Italics In PDF

Are you sure that you updated (the font of) the heading style correctly?

If you did, and the problem only occurs with the Arial Black font, the font
could be damaged.

I'm using Word 2010. I created a document with a Heading 1 using Arial
Black, 26-point, bold. When I saved a copy of the document as a PDF, the
headings appear as italics. I experimented with different font sizes
and I think that any size of Arial Black, used in a document and when
converted to PDF, appears as italics. Has anyone else encountered this
quirk? Thanks.
