Templates can *only* update styles and nothing else--margins are not
styles. Templates in Word are not that powerful, once the document has
been created (not sure if this has changed with Word 2007).

If attaching the template did 90% of the job you wanted, I would just
use File | Page Setup and change the margins. It only takes a few seconds.

But you might also try creating a new blank doc from the new template,
then using Insert | File. It's what's normally recommended, may help.

(Supposedly that ought to happen, but as I said, the margins don't get
overriden by the new margins as they should be.)

Or some other solution?
