If there is only one document open, the button with the white x on a red
background will do that. You need to use the black x (close window) button
under that if you want Word to remain open (with no document on the screen).

Hi,

I have a situation where when a user clicks the close button in Office
2003
running Windows 2000 the Word application closes completely instead of
just
closing normal.dot.

I found a post where the voice recoknition can cause this but it only
worked
for a few hours. Now the voice reckognition seems to be off and the
problem
is back. Does anyone know how to solve this for good and what causes it?

Any help appreciated.
