Default Find and Replace Italics

No, you're quite right, and in fact I'm in the middle of writing an article
in which I say just that; I just wasn't thinking.

It also works if you type nothing at all in the Replace box, just Ctrl-
I. Is there some reason _not_ to apply formatting to found text this
way?

Certainly.

1. Ctrl+H to open the Replace dialog.

2. In the "Find what" box, type "Star Wars" (without the quotation marks).

3. In the "Replace with" box type "Star Wars" or ^& (the code that stands
for "Find What Text," i.e., what you were searching for).

4. With the insertion point still in the "Replace with" box, press Ctrl+I.
You'll see "Format: Font: Italic" under the box.

5. Replace All.

Dear all,

I am using Word 2007 to write a long document in English. Suppose there
is
a
film title such as 'Star Wars' or a non-English phrase, which I have
used
100
times and forgot to put in italics, I know I can use find 'Star Wars'
and
then italicise each instance one at a time (which will take forever) but
is
there any command to say

find all instances of [Star Wars] and replace with [Star Wars in
italics]?
