Default Is there a way to insert a thin space in Word?

If I insert a 1/4 em space using Insert | Symbol, then select it and do
Alt+X, I get 2005.

Hi Suzanne,

maybe I should stay away from docmanagement, sigh.

What is wrong with AscW(8197)?
I used Times New Roman.

If I insert a 1/4 em space,
ascW(selection.text) tells me 8197.

8197[ctrl x] gives me some chinese sign.
What is that?
