Why not, we are using Dot Matrix Printer epson LQ-2180.
It does support the paper size.
If the layout show a part, how the printer response to print full page?
have you see the screen shot 2.jpg i attached?

Is the microsoft word doesnt support custom size? If so, why it's allow user
to put in custom size?

Anyway, can you please try create new doc with
custom size. 17" width x 13.5" height margin
top & bottom= 0.6 left & right=0.5
Divide the page to 2 column.
type a row of word. then click preview.
The layout will be display part of the word you typed.
It being tried on microsoft word 2007, 2003.
