Insert | Comment. Doesn't work quite the same way (depending on version),
but it's as close as you can get.

In Excel, there is an option that allows you to add comments to a box.
When
the cursor goes over that box the comment appears, when the cursor is not
over that box the comments are hidden. Is there a simialer feature in
Word?
